Reinforcing Why: Greenbar2X® Wins at CAMX – and What It Means
At CAMX 2025, Mateenbar’s® Greenbar2X® received the ACMA Award for Composites Excellence (ACE) in the category of Infinite Possibility for Market Growth.
We’re honored by the recognition, but more importantly, we’re energized by what it signals: a clear step forward in how our industry thinks about who composite rebar is for, where it belongs, and why it matters.

Why This Win Matters (Now)
For years, GFRP rebar lived in the margins – often limited to specialty infrastructure. Meanwhile, corrosion has continued to erode value across American construction.
The WHY behind Greenbar2X® is simple: make the corrosion-free choice visible, viable, and available to the people doing the work: contractors, builders, DIYers, and residential/light-commercial specifiers.
Greenbar2X® is doing exactly that. It’s stocked nationwide at Lowe’s, available in select Home Depot regions, and supported by a growing network of wholesale distributors. That shelf presence creates a real material choice right next to steel: no special orders, no delays, no mystery.
Add in BABA-compliant, U.S. manufacturing in Concord, North Carolina, and a lacquered finish that’s clean and comfortable to handle, and you get a product designed for everyday jobsite realities as much as engineering performance.
This is what the Infinite Possibility award is recognizing: not just innovation in materials, but innovation in access, removing historic barriers so composite reinforcement can serve the markets where most people build.
What We Heard (and Learned) at CAMX
We came to CAMX to listen as much as to share. Our very own Danielle Kleinhans, Ph.D., P.E. participated on a speaking panel organized by the Florida DOT (Advancing Infrastructure: Real-World Successes & Opportunities with FRP in Florida) and other key Team members attended the Conference.
We had meaningful conversations across agencies, academia, contractors, and peers. A few themes stood out:
- Access changes behavior. Seeing Greenbar2X® on the shelf beside steel reframes GFRP from “specialty” to standard option, especially for residential and light commercial work.
- Codes build confidence. With established guidance (e.g., ACI/ASTM pathways) and growing public-sector acceptance, specifiers are more comfortable choosing composites where fit-for-purpose.
- User experience matters. The lacquered finish resonated: less sliver risk, cleaner handling, and a professional look that encourages first-time adoption.
- Made here matters. Concord, NC, manufacturing, BABA compliance, and domestic availability were consistent decision drivers for public agencies and private builders alike.
- Education is a force multiplier. From engineers to DIYers, simple, credible explanations of when/where GFRP is appropriate accelerates adoption without overpromising.
These takeaways affirm our approach: pair technical rigor with practical commercialization, so choosing corrosion-free reinforcement is as straightforward as picking it up in-store.
A word from Danielle:
“Two decades ago, GFRP rebar was still an open question. Today, this award signals that we’ve crossed a threshold: composites are codified, credible, and accessible. Greenbar2X® brings the corrosion-free option to the point of purchase, so engineers can specify with confidence and builders can install without friction. That’s what ‘infinite possibility’ looks like in practice.”

Reinforcing What Matters Most
This moment belongs to our ONE Team: the people at our Concord, NC, plant and across our offices who put quality and integrity first.
It reflects more than an award; it reflects a culture: reinforcing what matters most—our people, our customers, and the communities we serve.
Greenbar2X® isn’t just corrosion-free rebar. It’s a platform for mainstream adoption: a cleaner, lighter, long-lasting choice that helps contractors deliver great work, homeowners invest with confidence, and agencies build for the long term.
The future of reinforcement is accessible, practical, and built to last. We’re proud to help lead it.
